Here’s the promised picture of my new dress.

There are more views on my Flickr page.

I just finished sewing a new apron. It’s a little more poofy in the skirt than I originally wanted, but I think I still like it.

In the last one, Bryan was taking pictures of me working in the kitchen.  We have boxes of food everywhere because yesterday was the “gravy train”!  The gravy train happens once a month when a generous man from the North brings a truck-load of groceries to the place where we go to school.  They use most of the food for the dining hall to keep costs down for the students, but they give all of the leftovers to families who are signed up on the gravy train list.  The list is rather long, so we get called in every two to three months.  Yesterday, we got lots of chicken (which I am getting ready to cook in the picture), huge cans of food, ground grains to bake into bread, Campbell’s fancy soup in boxes, and a lot more.  It is such a blessing to be given free food like this!

  1. Very cute dress and I love the apron! What pattern did you use? It looks like the new one on Amelia’s Aprons. Are you on the Farmgirl Connection by chance?

  2. I began with a McCall’s costume pattern, #7198, but the pattern wasn’t really what I was looking for. It was a longer apron with a closed back meant for a pioneer woman’s costume. I ended up just making the skirt a lot shorter, and I made the rest of it up without a pattern. Thanks for your kind comment! 🙂

  3. Love the apron!!! You did a great job!! I am so glad you came over to the farmgirl connection too!! I loved reading your blog!!
