Day 24, Wednesday, March 28

There was quite a to-do last night at supper time.  Yesterday, we discovered that even though we have many less people than were expected for this second workshop, the food that we bought is almost gone.  We know that many others have been eating besides just the cooks, but it got quite out of hand.  So Brad got everything worked out and gave a little more money for the last meat, and all seemed to be okay.  Then last night as it was getting dark, we started to realize that we hadn’t heard any dinner preparation.  We checked, and Marsha went back to find a cook sitting next to her sleeping child, they had just finished dinner, and there was no sign of any supper for us anywhere.  Brad was quite upset.  They have brought supper on nights we specifically asked them not to, they worked on days off (like Sunday) and want to be paid, and then they didn’t have any food last night for us after eating it themselves and expect to be paid anyway.

So we had a supper “buffet” of beef jerky, a small package of preserved salmon, bread left over from tea, jam that Brad bought at the market, and dry milk.
